What is Sermontary?
Sermontary (sermontary.ai) is a web app for churches that turns each sermon into a short, faithful summary and emails it to members and visitors who signed up by scanning the church’s QR code.
The service is recorded from the sound desk, a livestream, a YouTube link or an uploaded file. Sermontary builds a live transcript, names who preached and drafts the summary, and the church reviews it before it goes to subscribers with the full audio. It’s free for up to 50 subscribers, then $9.99 a month or $99 a year. It’s made by Evoluut, and it is a different product from the sermon-writing app at sermonary.com.
At a glance
- What it is. A web app that emails a summary of each sermon to your church’s own list.
- Who makes it. Evoluut — the team behind WhoSaidWhat, a live transcription platform used by parliaments.
- Who it’s for. Pastors, church administrators, communications teams and youth leaders. Members never pay.
- What it costs. Free for up to 50 subscribers, then $9.99 a month or $99 a year.
- Which gatherings. Sunday, midweek and youth. Prayer meetings give themes and scripture only.
- What it isn’t. Not a sermon-writing tool, not a clips or social-media tool, and not a church app.
How it works
- The church prints a QR code for each ministry.
- Members and visitors scan it, enter their email and pick their services. There is no app to download.
- The service is recorded from the sound desk, a livestream, a YouTube link or a recording you upload (MP3, M4A, WAV or WebM).
- A live transcript builds as the preacher speaks, and the team can fix words as they go. Speakers who have enrolled their voice, with consent, are named.
- Sermontary drafts the summary, and you review it before it goes to subscribers.
- Each subscriber gets it by email, from the church’s name, with the full audio.
How it works walks the same Sunday in five steps; features shows each part. The summary quotes only the scripture that was read — how we keep AI sermon summaries faithful sets out the rules.
What members receive
An ordinary email from the church’s name, addressed to the person by name, with the sermon’s points and the scripture that was read, something to take into the week, and the full audio one tap away. Replies go to the church office, and one tap stops it. Prayer gatherings are summarised as themes and scripture only — never names, health or family details, as the privacy policy sets out.

Built by the team behind WhoSaidWhat
Sermontary is built by Evoluut, the team behind WhoSaidWhat. WhoSaidWhat is a live transcription platform that parliaments use to produce their official sitting records: word for word, with every speaker identified, formatted to the institution’s own style and ready to publish. It was profiled in The Parliamentarian, the Journal of the Parliaments of the Commonwealth (2026, Volume 107, Issue One). Sermontary brings that same live transcription to your Sunday service, so the summary starts from an accurate record of what was preached.
Who it’s for
Pastors, church administrators and communications teams, who want Sunday’s message to reach everyone without writing an email on Monday. Youth leaders, who get a plainer summary and a challenge for the week for youth night. And the people who couldn’t be there — a member who was ill, a family away for work, a visitor who never filled in a card. That is what outreach is for.
What it costs
The Starter plan is free for up to 50 subscribers. The Church plan is $9.99 a month or $99 a year for an unlimited list. Every feature is on both plans, no credit card is needed, and members never pay. See pricing, or how sermon AI tools compare.
Sermontary (sermontary.ai) and sermonary.com
The two names sit close together, so here is the difference in jobs. Sermonary at sermonary.com is a sermon-writing and preaching app that helps a pastor prepare and deliver a sermon. Sermontary at sermontary.ai — this one — works after the sermon is preached: it summarises the message and emails it to the congregation.
